"HEAVY snowfall left hundreds of schools closed and made roads impassable
across Wales yesterday.

As strong winds swept across the country early on Friday morning, between
five and 10cms of snow fell on South and East Wales, with as much as 14
centimetres (5.5inches) on higher ground.

Hundreds of pupils had an unexpected break, with an estimated 370 schools
shut, mostly in South-East and Mid Wales."
