More information on the results of this storm...

Here's a snowcover map for Pennsylvania:
http://nws.met.psu.edu/hydro/snow/archive/snow20040204.gif
I am in the middle, near the "20". As you can see some places have as much
as 28" on the ground and we are just not used to that here. It has been 11
years since I have seen that much snow on the ground (we got around 2 feet
of snow during the Blizzard of 1993 in North Carolina).

As a result of the high snow cover, I have noticed the following
peculiarities around town:

The U.S. Mail did not run on my side of town yesterday but the mailman
showed up early this morning doing double duty.
Mailboxes, sometimes battered by snow plows, are disappearing under growing
piles of snow from plows, blowers and shovels.
People have forgone snow blowers and shovels in some places and are
clearing sidewalks with bulldozers (not the little Bobcats but full-blown
dozers!).
Some businesses were clearing snow off their roof today to avoid collapse
(rumor is there is more snow to come tomorrow night!).
The snow on the ground has exceeded safety regulations and the city has had
to dig out fire hydrants.

I have updated the URL below with brand new photos...
