The snow came with a vengeance this morning, around 6:15 a.m. in the town
of State College, home to WeatherMatrix HQ. The radar showed the snow as
high as 45dbz and it reduced visibilities to less than 1/4 mile at my
location on the western side of town. The heavy snow is also moving
slowly, causing it to pile up quickly. Hard to tell how much has fallen
but estimated put it at 4" at 7:45am, which would put the hourly rate at
over 3" per hour.

Heavy snow with visibilities as low as 1/4 mile has been reported at the
local airport from 0700 through 0740.

Area schools closed this morning even before the snow started. According
to local site WJAC TV, <http://www.wjactv.com/closings//closings/>185
