Hello,
Today nearly all records for floods were crushed.
The farm fields have been turned into lakes and
oceans, some of which are near 3.5' deep. There is
evendence that large rivers flooded down the back
streets (I didn't witness the flood at its peak, I was
at work), and vast farm fields covered with water.
There was one place where two sumps had been dug
into the ground. One about 25' deep and the other
about 35' deep... they are both flooded to the max!
There is a ten foot wide river flowing about 1250'
from the smaller to the larger. Now, mind you these
sumps are huge! The smaller is about 50 feet wide and
the larger is near 200' wide. The water level inside
the bigger one has increased by a full 18' in the last
24hrs. Rainfall rates hit at between 3"/hr. and
4"/hr. around 10:30 this morning. And now for the
surprising thing... there is still plenty of snow left
on the gound.
Speaking of snow, at Tanger Mall where I work,
there were huge 15' to 20' piles of snow (used to be
near 35' high two weeks ago), they are still at least
10' high and show no signs of being gone before Spring
gets here. This was all thanks to 1.53" of rainfall
in 7hrs. today.
