Hi,
Several records have fallen this month (and
winter). The average temperature in February was
27.8º, a new record low avg temp by -6.8º. The old
record was 34.6º set in 2000. It was also the
snowiest month on record with 31.5" total snowfall
(old record 30.9" in March '01) and 4.2" still on the
ground (probably second to Jan.'96, but no records for
the month other than the Blizzard exist). The streak
for the longest period of time with snow cover was
also set this month with snow on the ground for the
last 21 straight days! (old record was like 14days, we
crushed it) We also set a record for the most snow in
a February storm (20.0"), the month of February by
16.7" (old record was 14.8"), and the average winter
temp. so far is 29.3º (33.8º in Dec., 26.4º in Jan.,
and 27.8º in Feb.).
Other records for the winter include a new all
time record low of 2º (not recorded by the Nimbus
sensor, but a thermometer we've had for years), the
strongest non-tropical storm I've ever seen (at
950.0mb., with 110mph. max sustained winds and waves
up to 44' on Feb.9-10), the lowest low windchill in
three years, above normal Feb. precip, and the closest
we've come to having the pool collapse since moving to
Baiting Hollow.
