Hello,
Yesterday was the warmest day since January 10th,
here in Baiting Hollow, NY. The temperature rocketed
to 44º at 11am. from a morning low of 19º. For my
area the second cold streak of the season has been
broken, standing at 5days long (the previous was
6days). Overall it has been a quite cold mid-January
with a near 7yr record low of 4º, missed by 2º. I'm
still waiting for a sling phsychrometer I ordered on
the 18th. so I can't check to see if the reading of 0º
I got from a mercury thermometer was accurate. Maybe?
At one point winds gusting to 42mph. drove chills
down to -34º (old form.), I can't remember what it was
using the new one.
Hopefully the 1.2" of snow my area recieved
overnight will be enough to set a new record low
tonight. That would be an exciting way to cap off
this cold January! The snow is currently being
whipped into drifts up to 8.6" tall, by winds gusting
to 31mph.
Artie
Baiting Hollow, NY
