Greetings,
The arctic blast is still in place after eight
days here in Baiting Hollow, NY. Todays high was 22º
but it felt more like 5º! Right now the temperature
has slipped off to 13º with a windchill of -4º, which
is fast approaching the lowest reading of the year
(-6º, set Monday).
During the past week the high temp rose above
freezing only once. Here is a list of the highs and
lows since this all out arctic assault began:
Starting last Tuesday
21º/31º
22º/30º
20º/29º
19º/31º
4º/20º
7º/28º
16º/33º
12º/25º
11º/22º
Although I don't know what the lowest windchill
for my area is in terms of the new formula, I can tell
you that it is getting closer to the lowest I've seen
based on the old one. About an hour ago the windchill
based on the old formula reached -30º, to put that
into perspective, the lowest windchill I've measured
was -46º in January of 2000. Needless to say, thats
some pretty cold stuff.
