RE: [STORMREPORTS] Over 4 Feet Of Lake-Effect Snow

Hello,
I am located about 50 miles south of Oswego where they had snow
coming down at a rate of about 4 inches per hour for part of yesterday.
The local news has reported that they had about 36 inches for the day.
The snow caused the City of Oswego to go into a snow emergency which was
lifted at 6 am today. In regards to how much they have on the ground,
we have yet to see any type of thaw for the region in the month and a
half to two months. The snow bands move north and South between
Watertown and parts south of Syracuse. Sometimes the bands will set in
to one particular area like they did yesterday. Some areas get hit
harder then others elevation and wind direction play a big role. I am
in the hill tops south of Syracuse and we get hit with heavy snow then
the winds pick up and we get blowing and drifting snow. At times the
blowing snow makes for localized white out conditions. The other night
my wife and I were caught in a local band and it took us almost an hour
and a half on a drive that only takes 20 minutes usually. The locals in
my area are running out of places to push the snow, we are waiting for a
pay loader to come and push some banks back. I will take some pictures
tomorrow and post. Some of the banks around my house are 6 feet plus
high. There is no sign of a thaw in the near future.
