LONDON - Heavy rain brought flooding to roads and homes in southeast
England on Monday and, as rivers rose, emergency services kept a close eye
on riverside towns.

Almost 100 flood warnings were in force across the rest of England and Wales.

At the village of Yalding in Kent, tributaries of the Medway river burst
their banks in places and were creeping up back gardens towards riverside
homes.
