this morning, as a weak low pressure moved across the area.
Unofficial reports from the Clarkesville/Gainsville, Ga. area
estimated wind gusts from 55-65mph. Numerous power outages were also
reported, due to many trees being blown down across lines. Roads
were littered with downed trees, power lines, and tree limbs. There
were unofficial reports of injuries in this area.
In NW South Carolina, a lot of wind damage was reported in Oconee
County, especially in the Seneca area. Several of my family members,
who live in Seneca, reported many trees down, with scattered areas of
power outages. In the area of the Seneca Middle School, where my
wife teaches, one neighborhood reported heavy wind damage, including
one couple who lost two vehicles, when a huge tree crashed across
them. Here at my weather station, in extreme Northern Oconee County,
I recorded a wind gust of only 23mph, along with 1.02" of rain. My
barometric pressure has dropped from 30.09" this morning at 6am to
29.67" at 3pm this afternoon.
