Hello,
Last night was the coldest December night since I
started keeping records seven years ago. It was a
bone chilling 4º (that's a very cold temp. for my
area). It was only one degree warmer than the seven
year record low for any month! Westhampton Beach (the
place my father and I call the "ice box of Long
Island"), recorded a low of 3º. West Hampton Beach,
otherwise known as suffolk airport, reached a
staggering -1º last Saturday morning. I consider it
to be staggering, because I've never seen a
thermometer read lower than 3º before.
When the morning came, everything shimmered
because of an excessive amount of frost. The low
occured at 9:30pm. and it was 14º at 7am.
