Dozens of homes here fell victim to water damage
Tuesday as heavy rains fell - with more expected today
and compounding what one city official called the
worst flooding in more than 20 years.
About 85 homes were flooded on the west side and in
the Lakeview area as more than 8 inches of rain
deluged the city, said Darlene Koch, Jefferson County
assistant emergency management coordinator
Almost 8.5 inches fell between 3 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.,
and 6 inches of that fell between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m.,
according to the weather station at Travis Elementary
School in Port Arthur.
