Hello everyone,
The coldest air of the season has just arrived
here on Long Island. The temperature is 21º with a 7º
windchill, compliments of a 20mph. north west wind.
My station picked up an overnight low of 19.7º and
there are even snow traces on the ground.
The wind has been getting stronger and stronger
since about midnight. It is now up to 18mph. to
20mph. with gusts over 30mph. (peak gust to 38mph. at
6:38am). Windchills have been near 5º all morning;
here are the stats
low windchill (new formula): ~4º
average windchill (old formula): -7º
low windchill (old formula): -20º
Which ever formula you look at, its still pretty cold.
