I have been busy w/ other projects & have not had time to post the last
few days.
After 2 days of very warm weather (87 on Mon & 91 on Tue), temps cooled
back to the upper 70's Wed. The low is forecast to bottom out just above
40 early this am. However, as i writ this at 3;30am, it is still 61º,
a loss of only 3º since midnight.
Winds were gusty Wednesday, behind Hurricane Gustav and another storm in
New England. Locally, the winchester Regional Airport measured a PWG of
39mph. My PWG was 31mph, and other stations nearby ranged from 29 to
35mph.
A few power outages happened, but i did not hear of any serious
incidents.

And the NWS was talking about the eventual track could be into our
region over the weekend. It would be nice, by Sunday, it will be 13
days since the last rain was measured.
And how about a stream that dries up for several hundred feet or so,
then show sign of water again. It is happening locally.

Last Wednesday (9-04), a cold front swept through the mid Atlantic
region. By evening, the northern half of VA & MD were clear w/ low
humidity & a refreshing breeze.
However, a line of heavy to severe thunderstorms formed, suddenly, along
the I-64 corridor (Charlottesville to Richmond), about 8pm.
Since the sky overhead was free of clouds & haze, the cumulus nimbus,
illuminated by nearly non stop lightning, were visible along the
southern horizon.
The NWS in Sterling (Baltimore/Washington) received many calls, and
mentioned it in the AFD and issued a now cast.
The storms were 100 miles away!!
The Washington DC tv forecasters also talked a lot about it in the next
24 hours.
