NWS Public Information Statement
500 PM EDT Tue Apr 30 2002

...Straight line wind damage confirmed in York County PA during the
evening of April 28...

A survey of the April 28th storm damage near Emigsville in York
County was conducted in cooperation with the York County emergency
management office and the National Weather Service today.
It was determined that the damage in York County was caused by
straight line wind...not a tornado. The wind during this
thunderstorm was estimated to be 70 to 80 mph.
The storm caused damage to several out buildings and uprooted
dozens of large trees along its path. Several homes were damaged by
falling trees. Some residents saw what appeared to be funnel clouds
during the storm but none of these funnels touched the ground.
