A major winter Storm blasted northern and western with a catastrophic ice
storm in west central into north central Missouri, and a major snow storm
in parts of northwestern Missouri into north east Missouri.
The City of Kansas City is under a state of emergency, and the Missouri
governor has declared part of western Missouri in a state of emergency
freeing up state aid.
Broadcasters in the KC area have not been immune, Most TV and Radio
stations on are on the air.. however, I've heard lots of brief radio
station outages, Entercom owned WDAF and KMBZ have been off the air 4 or 5
times since last night. KSMO WB-62 has been off the air since 8pm last
night, presumably due to a power failure, all other KC stations have been
on and off the air several times, with KCTV having to do News Casts from
there Lobby due to a power failure at there studios in Fairway, KS.
WDAF-TV is now doing newscasts from it's newsroom due to a power failure.
The Ice storm has knocked out power to an estimated 325,000 users in the
Kansas City metro area. in Cass County, Nearly the entire county is
reported to be without power. Several Shelters are now open to house
residents whom have lost power.
