Winchester (nw) VA
This is quick overview of Sat's snow storm, er, event: I measured 4.5",
most it of falling between 8 and 10:30am. There was a lull most of the
afternoon. A 2nd wave arrived at 5pm and lasted about 5 hours. Much of
it was light, but managed to accumulate 3/4" on top of the am snow.
I had to work Sat, and the snow (1st wave) ended as i went in the mall.
The rest of area took the day off and the mall was sparsely populated. I
was told to go home a mere 2 hours later.
Roads were scraped clean (even the new 3/4" was removed!!), and now the
lingering moisture has turned many streets into solid sheets of black
ice. With temps going to 38º and a nearly full day of sun today, the
roads will be free of ice well before noon.
Here is what i think VA's final snow totals.
