I believe Mr. Deger from Pa. could be correct in the humidity levels. I am
in Northwestern South Carolina and I recorded a low humidity this afternoon
of 13%, which is very unusual. I checked with several NWS stations in the
upstate, and they were also reporting humidity levels in the teens. Here's
another very interesting observation concerning this dry air mass.
Morganton, N.C. , located in the mountains of Western North Carolina,
reported a humidity level of 8% this afternoon, and Rutherford, also in the
foothills, reported 9%. These are NWS readings. Therefore, with the extreme
dry air mass that has invaded the East and Southeast, Mr. Deger could be
right on target. Living in a part of the country where we battle the
"muggies" most of the summer, I'm enjoying this change!
