[STORMREPORTS] Severe storms approach NC

As compared to the last several days, we here in
Asheville at 11pm are still at a balmy 69 degrees with
winds now beginning to increase from the SSW. A very
heavy line of thunderstorms is quickly approaching the
mountains of NC with a couple embedded tornado vortex
signatures, and several reports of hail and damaging
winds. I expect the storms to weaken slightly as they
impact the mountains, but with the forward speed of
the system (45 KTS+), and our temps here increasing
slightly as the front approaches, I expect to see some
heavy weather. Severe thunderstorm watch #804
includes the county just to my west (Haywood). May
see it augmented slightly eastward as the line gets
closer. There is already a High Wind Advisory in
effect through Thursday, and these strong surface
winds could also combine with thunderstorm winds to
increase the threat. Temps are expected to drop
dramatically with the frontal passage, from our record
setting 81 today, to 26 Saturday am.

Will report on any severe weather as it warrants.
