Looks as though we could see a rough period ahead for the lower Plains
and Mississippi , Tennessee Valley areas for this the next 24 hours. A
very strong 140 knt. jet has continued to drift eastward today from it's
position over the Rockies earlier today. As this jet has moved
eastward, it has began to collide with a with a 60 knt warm low level
jet, rich with tropical Gulf moisture, flowing northward from the Gulf
of Mexico over Northeastern Texas, Western Louisiana and Southwestern
Arkansas. Combine these ingredients, along with some strong afternoon
heating, it could spell for Potentially Severe Weather. Several
Tornado Warnings, have began to be Issued tonight, and much of
Northeastern Texas is under a Tornado Watch.
The Severe Storm Prediction Center, has assigned this area with a
MODERATE risk, although there earlier thoughts were, that the greatest
threats could be from very gusty winds from the Severe Thunderstorms.
The past few hours we have seen likewise, with the frequent Tornado's !
This area of weather should set up for a pretty impressive squall line
tonight , as it begins to move east, and then this should move very
slowly threw the Tennessee Valley tomorrow and then north-
northeastward into the Ohio Valley by Sunday Am.
