Looks like a powerful Nor Easter is beginning to really take shape just
of the Eastern Atlantic coast. The storm is expected to deepen off the
Virginia Coast by mid-day Sunday and then slowly proceed just to the
east of the New England coast by late evening. This storm stands to
pose a very serious threat to beachfront communities from Florida to
Maine. Looking around at some of the buoy's just off shore, most are
showing winds in excess of 30-35 kts, with waves from 15-20feet high. I
would expect that this could lead to some serious beach erosion. also a
very strong threat exist for a strong tidal pooling or surge effect,
Warnings are out for the Long Island sound for this, where there is the
potential for a 3 to 4 ft higher than normal high tide. It could be a
very interesting storm to watch..
