The National Weather Service Office in Key West reports precipitation
totals of between 3" and 6" as a result of a stalled frontal zone over
Central Florida mixing with tropical moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. The
rainfall totals were recorded over a period of three days, with much of the
precipitation falling 9/28 and 9/29. High winds also ccompanied the system.
This station recorded 3.95" over the last three days. This station also
recorded a wind gust of 29mph from the SW early morning 9/29.
Despite the high winds, there was little evidence of wind damage. Law
enforcement reported a downed tree over U.S. Highway 1 in the Upper Keys.
Motorists in many Keys areas were subjected to flooded streets.
The system has moved off to the East but forecasters are predicting winds
to increase for this evening from the North as low pressure moves across the
Keys.
