Good Evening from Temple, Texas
Here are some highlights from yesterday's flood event as reported by our
local newspaper.
You can see a photo of the flooded underpass at Troy, about 5 miles north of
Temple.

The Temple airport report 9.58" as of 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The
deputy chief of the Temple Fire and Rescue reported high water drove 10
families from their homes in west Temple. Authorities reported Interstate 35
was closed in nine places in Bell County.
The most serious flooding occurred at the IH 35 underpass in Troy (see link
above for photo). The Bell County EOC reported 29 high water locations in
the county. Bonham Middle School in Temple was used as a shelter by the
Mid-Tex American Red Cross but nobody had moved in by 6:30 p.m.
The 30 year old man that was rescued by helicopter just to the east of
Temple suffered a possible broken ankle and other minor injuries. It took
two attempts to rescue the man as the first attempt was thwarted by high
winds and blowing tree limbs. On the second attempt, the rescuer went into
the rushing water that was estimated at seven feet deep and swam a short
distance to the man and attached him to the rescue cable.
It is opening night for Texas high school football tonight and several
schools have postponed or rescheduled their first football game of the
season.
