For Sunday, August 6, 2001
The high temperature at the local NWS station in Waco, Texas (35 miles
to my north) reached 106 degrees today. This tied the record high
temperature for the date that was originally set in 1951 and also tied
in 1964 and 1987. The high temperature at my station was 103 degrees.
This was the 23rd day that the temperature has reached 100 degrees at
Waco but only the second day at my station.
On a side note, it has been 35 days since Central Texas has seen
measurably precipitation.
