Well, we are making up ground fast on rainfall for the year. Over the last two days, we have had approximately 8 inches of rain in Cape Coral thru this afternoon. Rain began again tonight at 7:40pm and is still falling. At last check, rainfall was up to 2.3 inches; expect something over 3 inches by midnight. This has been a good steady rainfall (but very heavy at times) with some lightning and thunder but really at a minimum which is good. Winds have been quite strong at times; especially thru last night. Canal levels have been high and most docks have been flooded. A good number of Cape Coral streets have also been flooded. It looks like there will be more of the same thru tomorrow. Richard Macomber, Cape Coral, FL
in SSW Florida (Lee County). Note: Hardest hit area in SW Florida is Arcadia in DeSoto County where the Peace River is expected to be a foot above flood level sometime during the night. I know that many camping areas had to be evacuated.
