[ED. NOTE: I don't usually allow non-weather postings on this list, but since people are asking...]
I just talked to NWS in Sterling VA (Balt/Wash), turns out a meteorite
fell to Earth about 6:15pm this evening. Reports of the fireball(s)
were received from NY to SC, and from WV to the Atlantic coast.
I missed it myself, but the scanners were lively about 6:20pm when plane
crashes were reported at once in about 5 locations.
At 7:30pm, i could not find an AP story, however it should be here when
it's available:
http://washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/nation/latestap/index.html
Since it was cloudless (minus the haze) and drive time home, I assume
they will be video of the event by Tuesday.
