=> The Federal Geodetic Data Committee (FGDC) is conducting a public
review of
three standards:
the Address Data Content Standard (comments due June 22, 2001)
the NSDI Framework Transportation Identification Standard
(comments due July 20, 2001)
the Standard for a U.S. National Grid (comments due June 22, 2001)
The FGDC invites GIS data producers and users and software vendors to
comment on the standards to ensure that the standards meet the needs of
their communities. To learn about the standards and how to submit
comments on the standards, visit the FGDC What's New web page at
http://www.fgdc.gov/whatsnew/whatsnew.html. Reviewers are strongly
encouraged to use the template for sending comments that may be downloaded
from http://www.fgdc.gov/standards/directives/dir2d.html.
Public review comments that address specific issues/changes/additions may
result in revisions that enhance the usefulness of the standards for their
communities. After comments have been evaluated, reviewers will receive
notification of how their comments were addressed. After formal
endorsement of the standard by the FGDC, the standard and a summary
analysis of the changes will be made available to the public via the FGDC
Web site.
To learn more about this and other FGDC standards activities, please visit
the FGDC standards activities web page at
http://www.fgdc.gov/standards/standards.html. The acceptance of FGDC
standards by GIS data users and producers and software vendors depends on
public response to the draft standards.

This GOES-8 image shows a strong low pressure system that has produced
rainfall totals of
three to seven inches from Rhode Island to Maine. This rainfall along with
melting snow has
produced serious river and creek flooding causing the evacuation of many
Massachusetts residents.
Meanwhile, parts of northern New England have picked up up to 1-2 inches of
snow.
