Winchester VA

Pardon my absence, been busy other places, That includes finding a
replacement e-mail weather server for statewide service that is
dependable. Will update you later today, if get i get the time.

Onto the wind, as typical in March. Wind in the afternoon, in the
evening, & now at night too.

The morning featured low clouds; fog, (visibilty <2 miles); & overnight
rain (.13"). The warm front arrived in style, with winds gusting to 32
mph at my weather station (3pm). The sky became mostly sunny about 1pm.
Fair wx cumulus increased later in the afternoon.

My low was 41.4º at 12:48am; and the high was 64.2º, at 2:59pm. The
barometer hit a low of 29.48" about 2pm. The low wind chill was 24º at
10:10pm.

The afternoon winds tore down the guttering on my neighbor's house.

The NWS gave us a 90 minutes heads up notice. And about 9pm, it hit,
hard. Although my PWG was only 35mph (8:48pm), i swear it was
stronger. The trees were in full motion, & the roar was noticeable.

FWIW, the airport had peak sustained winds of 32mph in the afternoon,
and only 22mph in the evening. www.Wunderground.com provided no useful
data, again, tonight.

There was minimal lightning (none here), but the NWS issued 3 Severe
Thunderstorm warnings from Sterling (and 1 more for York/Lancaster in
PA), for winds in the excess of 60mph.

And about 2am this morning, firefighters from about 7 companies have
been dispatched to a house fire in the city's north edge (6 miles away).
It was being fed by 20mph wind, consumed at least 1 (thought to be
vacant) house & was threatening others. Will post a news link on Thur.
