[STORMREPORTS] West Orange, NJ Storm Report

From: mike1047{at}webtv.net
Date: Sat Dec 30 2000 - 21:54:43 EST

Snow began here about 4 or 5 a.m. At 8 a.m., snow was falling very
heavily...with 4-6" on the ground. By 9:30, 8.5" was on the ground.
Snow depth increased fairly rapidly, with 10-11" by 11 a.m., and 13-14"
by 1 p.m. One final burst of heavy snow brought the snow up to 17"
before ending shortly after 3 p.m. Wind wasn't that much of a factor,
gusting only to 30 mph from time to time. This lead to fairly minor
blowing and drifting of snow here.

This has been the largest snowstorm around here since the historic
Blizzard of 1996! Certainly one of the biggest December snows in West
Orange (I know it's NYC"s biggest in 40 years). One to remember for
quite some time!
