Good Evening All!!
Well, we finally got our first SIGNIFICANT snowfall of the season. As I
type, it is still snowing, and we have 3 inches (.15 liquid). It'd been
spitting flakes all day long, but got really serious around 2 this
afternoon, causing local schools to send the kids home 2 hours early (made
my daughter REAL happy!!).
By 5 pm when I left work, it was really coming down and sticking to
everything but the streets. Boy howdy, was it pretty coming down!! Big
fluffy flakes and lots of them--looked like cotton balls falling from the
sky!!
The snow is now sticking to the streets and sidewalks as the temps keep
dropping. It is 29 degrees here now, with a high today of 36 and a low of
25. The wind has picked up a bit, so we might get some blowing snow, but I
don't expect big drifts with only 3 or 4 inches.
Most likely, schools will delay opening a couple of hours, as the current
worry is re-freezing and icy roads come the morning rush. Should be
interesting. Think I'll take the train again (the commuter train station is
only 2 miles from my house)--which beats driving into DC--a 13-mile drive,
and anybody who lives in the DC area knows that most folks here CAN'T drive
in this stuff!!! Do I lie, Jason B. and Steve M.??
