At 5am as the front edged across the mountains here in Asheville, NC the temp was 51 degrees. Four hours later, the temp had dropped to 33 degrees. We have been right around that mark all day with current temp of 34. (5pm)
Also the pressure differences have been great. From 29.86 at 2am to 30.27 and still rising at 5pm. There were damage reports in Haywood County (Waynesville) to my west and Avery County to my north. Mainly trees down.
Winds have started to diminish now down to 14 mph sustained. Peak official gust 29 (from hourly obs) but I suspect a higher gust as we were pretty sustained at 22-27 mph during that time. It was that way for about 5 hours.
Now turning attention downstream for developing gulf storm to bring freezing rain and sleet/snow mix to area tomorrow afternoon and night.
