Yesterday, the rainy season returned to SW Florida. In eastern Lee County, a big storm hit with treacherous lightning. Lasting almost 2 hours, there was torrential rain.
Western Lee County was untouched. Tonite (Wed 9/27), a BIG storm hit about 7PM which covered all of the northern part of the county. I was at a client's business in
Lehigh Acres when it began and 23 miles later in Cape Coral, I was still in the storm. Serious lightning was again a feature. Rains were torrential. Visibility as I was driving
went to minimal. This was for a period of about 45 minutes. When I was able to check my rain guage at home in Cape Coral, I measured 2.3 inches of rain. Apparently,
the bad weather approaching from the south (Caribbean) is helping to override the dry air which halted our rains. Forecast for the end of the week is more rain with a possibility of heavier weather coming in from the tropics. Our subtropical pattern is still holding with the northern cold fronts stopping around the Lakeland area. Eventually
they will make it down (after hurricane season). What we want now is more rain to tide us over the dry season (hopefully without a hurricane but we will take it however
