With all the talk of the heat across Texas and the
south, there were actually more record low
temperatures set today across Texas than there
were record highs. The record low in Austin this
morning was 66 degrees which replaced the former
record of 68 degrees in 1989. Corpus Christi also
set a record low of 70 degrees. This replaced the
previous record of 71 degrees set in 1989. These
record lows were due to the very dry lower
atmosphere. The minimum RH at my station was 27%
while the maximum RH only reached 68%. These are
almost unheard of this time of year.
On the other hand, Austin also tied their record
high
temperature of 102 degrees set in 1994. Houston
set a new record high of 102 degrees. This
replaced the previous record of 100 degrees in
1944.
The low temperature at my station was 73 degrees
while the high temperature reached 103 degrees.
This was the 10th consecutive day of 100 degrees
plus temperatures at my station.
