We'll we're all entitled to our own opinions, I guess.
I guess it depends on whether you're talking long-term or short-term
drought, and where. Certainly the SE is in bad trouble, long-range
speaking.
If you check the last 365-day departure you'll see 15-30" below normal,
which, is nearly a YEAR's rainfall in some areas.

In Iowa, not quite as bad, but still bad long term. Negative 5-15" is
common.

On the other hand, if you look at 30-day, then no it doesn't look like
much of a drought in Iowa (see URL below).

Certainly there has been some short term relief in these areas. Now
whether 1-year or 30-day is more important to drought stricken areas,
I'm not sure. Probably depends on what your business is. I don't
believe that any person that says there is NO drought or ALL drought in
these areas, as you can see from the above URL's it varies widely.
Another place to see arguments over drought is Point-Counterpoint, on
AccuWeather.com where Joe Bastardi and Ken Reeves argue each week about
various weather topics, and usually the drought argument is present.
I'd urge both of you to check this out.
