Hi Folks!
Well, ol' Alberta Clipper is making her merry way through the DC area right
now. My daughter just got home from high school and called me and told me
that the power and phones in her school went out about a half hour before
school ended (in Bowie, MD), and that on her bus ride home, she saw trees
down and power crews out. She also said that the lights at our home are
flickering. The wind has a decided chill to it, as I was on the first floor
of my office building in DC and could hear the wind whistling down the
elevator shaft and one of the back hallways near the loading dock is down
right cold--shoulda worn a jacket!!
The high temp at home at my little weather station was 59 degrees, with a
morning low of 33 degrees. The current temp is 50 degrees and falling. The
wind has picked up considerably, and judging by ol' Beaufort's scale, looks
to be in the 20-40 mph range.
I've been watching Intellicast Radar off and on all day, and the mixed
precip (pink) line has been edging ever closer to our area. I doubt we'll
get any snow or mixed precip--the mountains seem to keep breaking it up, but
we're slated for colder temps tomorrow--high in the low to mid 30's. Add
wind chills to that and it'll be dang cold!!
Y'all hang onto your hats!!
