HIGH WINDS & DAMAGE AT CASI HQ

High winds hit CASI HQ this morning, gusting to 55mph, breaking our 3-year record of 47 or 52mph, I can't remember which, on the Primary CASI Weather Station before the wind bent the anchored 30 foot metal TV antenna pole over the porch.  The Stevenson Screen (unanchored) that houses weather instruments for the other CASI Weather Stations was blown over.  The Secondary Weather Station reported a gust of 53mph, but it is sheltered somewhat from the wind. Shingles from someone's house are in the yard.  Many transformer & power line flashes have been seen out the windows, even though only light snow flurries are falling.  The power has threatened to go out.  More later.

9am Update: 150,000 Without Power (Alleghany) in Centre County. High Wind Gusts reported to NWS in OH & PA can be found here: OH | PA | 24-Hour Wind Animation - PA Region | Worst Gusts
