Temperatures -112 In Antarctica!
May 28, 2000

Above Graphics (C) 2000 Weather Underground Inc.

The Synoptic reports below, for Vostok, Antarctica (the place which holds the world's lowest temperature record), show temperatures (in Celcius in tenths of degrees in red, for example -69.9) ranging from -84.8 to -112.7 degrees F. I managed to get the Weather Underground graphics above when it was at -106F. Although temperatures below -100 have been seen there, they are rare. (For more help on decoding synoptic reports, see here).
