Hot Weather - Mid-Atlantic / NE US
5/30/99

Unusually hot weather plagued the mid-atlantic and northeast states on Sunday, May 30, 1999 and throughout the Memorial Day weekend. At 15Z (11am) on Sunday, Baltimore MD was the hottest place in the entire nation with 86 degrees! Then at 19Z (3pm) Fort Belvior VA was the hottest place in the nation with 97 degrees ! (I am a little suspicious of that one - the previous hours were 91,93,93, and the following hour was 91). Usually these "hottest place" readings are reserved for CA/AZ/TX this time of year. For a range of times that day, the complete record is here. Following are the specifics on the high temperatures on Sunday:
