| What a way to start off the weekend! A line of thunderstorms
organized and strengthened as it crossed central NJ and made way its way
toward NYC. In anticipation of the arrival of these storms the NWS
issued a Flood Warning for all of the NYC metro area. The dense fog we
had since late last night did not lift as the storms approached, making
for an erie scene. Rain began around 11:50am, with it came very intense
lightning. I counted 8 strikes that were extremely close to the house.
Rain came down in sheets until 12:15pm. Total rainfall for that 25
minute time span equalled 1.21", surpassing yesterdays daily total
of 1.09". It has quieted down now but showers and thunderstorms
remain in the forecast through Wednesday! |
