Storm Summary
Monday June 8, 1998: was a active day pretty much especailly in the evening. During the evening Labette Co. Ks. was issued in a svr t-storm warning. A friend of mine headed towards Parson Kansas in Labette Co. We went South on highway 69 then turned west on highway 160. We continued to drive west for while until I noticed the sky was getting very dark. We got about 10 miles south of Parsons and the sky turned a redish color, just then I looked up out of my wind sheild and a funnel cloud had formed right over us. I sped up and not even 5 seconds later a gush of wind was blowing at least up to 65+ mph and had pea size hail. The rain was falling hard so I decided to pull over and I turned around. We waited till the storm got about a mile or so in front and we chased it all the way into Missouri. We had a great view of the cell from behind with awsome lightning within the cloud (cloud-cloud lightning). I took some pictures but for some reason I didn't get the film in correct and they didn't turn out good. I was very pissed. This chase was the best chase I had so far this year. Very windy and very wild. I could almost swear the right side of the car was being picked up a tiny bit.
